Fife Flute

The Fife course is designed for very young children ages 5 to 11. It includes an introduction to the Fife, in-depth study, and performance on the instrument, followed by vocal practice, culminating in a final recital at the end of the year. The program, conducted through small-group workshops, can be held in either Italian or English. The Fife is taught using Liz Goodwin’s method; it is an instrument similar to the well-known metal transverse flute, but lighter and shorter, making it suitable for young children. Students are taught both specific flute techniques—such as embouchure, posture, breathing, and hand and finger positioning—as well as general musical fundamentals, including reading sheet music, rhythm, meter, and musicality. The course is very affordable because lessons are group classes, and the cost of the instrument is extremely reasonable at 15€ each.
